Blog Assignment Week 1

I decided to become a teacher because of the influences of my family; I grew up in a family where the majority of  them were teachers, ranging from elementary school to college. I enjoyed the stories and seeing how they got to work with people and make a difference. To have that kind of purpose, I cannot think of anything greater. When it comes to technology I am not very proficient. I would probably be considered the norm. I would like to learn anything that could be useful in a classroom. Kids today are very involved in a variety of forms of technology and  that is why it is important for teachers to use tech to help students learn and connect. I believe that using tech is a great idea and that teachers can greatly benefit from that knowledge and therefore help more students.

  1. Do you find yourself avoiding the use of technology in your own life a bit because you are not proficient in this area, and instead just sticking with what you are more familiar with?

    I do...

  2. Funny you say this about your family. My parents are now both principals and were teachers all before that (nearly 30 years). I told myself I would never be a teacher because of that, but look where God led me... :)

  3. Many people in my family are teachers too, as well as a couple of my friends, which definitely influenced my decision as well.
I like how you say that you would like to learn anything that is useful for the classroom! I think that is a great attitude to have, we should want to learn things that will be beneficial for us as teachers.

  4. What do you consider a normal proficiency with tech? I think it would be fun to figure out ways to use "normal" tech (cell phones, facebook, etc.) in a classroom in a way that's productive for the students as well as fun. :)
