Blog Assignment Week 1
I decided to become a teacher because of the influences of my family; I grew up in a family where the majority of them were teachers, ranging from elementary school to college. I enjoyed the stories and seeing how they got to work with people and make a difference. To have that kind of purpose, I cannot think of anything greater. When it comes to technology I am not very proficient. I would probably be considered the norm. I would like to learn anything that could be useful in a classroom. Kids today are very involved in a variety of forms of technology and that is why it is important for teachers to use tech to help students learn and connect. I believe that using tech is a great idea and that teachers can greatly benefit from that knowledge and therefore help more students.

Do you find yourself avoiding the use of technology in your own life a bit because you are not proficient in this area, and instead just sticking with what you are more familiar with?
ReplyDeleteI do...
Funny you say this about your family. My parents are now both principals and were teachers all before that (nearly 30 years). I told myself I would never be a teacher because of that, but look where God led me... :)
ReplyDeleteMany people in my family are teachers too, as well as a couple of my friends, which definitely influenced my decision as well.
ReplyDeleteI like how you say that you would like to learn anything that is useful for the classroom! I think that is a great attitude to have, we should want to learn things that will be beneficial for us as teachers.
What do you consider a normal proficiency with tech? I think it would be fun to figure out ways to use "normal" tech (cell phones, facebook, etc.) in a classroom in a way that's productive for the students as well as fun. :)
